Homework for 5th January 2010
The Year 4 homework over the Christmas holidays is to research King Henry VIII as a basis for our topic in Term 3.
Here are some questions you may wish to use if your child needs a more structured approach to their homework.
Choose 2 or 3 questions that you think they may find interesting;
1. Who was Henry VIII’s father? When was he born? When did he die? How did he become King? Who was Henry VIII’s mother?
2. Who were Henry’s brothers and sisters? When were they born? When did they die? Who did they marry? Who were their children and what jobs did they do?
3. How is King Henry VIII related to Queen Elizabeth II? Research and create a family tree to show this.
4. Create a timeline to show at least 10 important events in Henry’s life.
5. What sports and pastimes did Henry like to do? Choose at least 2 and find out more about them.
6. Find a portrait of Henry VIII, when was it painted? What he is wearing and what it is made of? Find out about the portrait painter.
7. Find some pictures of Tudor costumes, find out about the clothes they wore and what they were made from. Compare them to the clothes we wear today.
8. Choose 1 of Henry’s wives and research her in detail; find out about her early life and family, how she became married to Henry and what happened to her eventually.
9. Find out about Henry’s visits to France. When and why did he go? Who did he meet there?
